The surfer's little trick of hiding their keys seems to be well known to everyone.

And even thieves.

In Saint-Malo, at least six of them were victims of theft from their vehicle when they had gone into the water to tame the waves.

At the end of their session on the beach of La Rochebonne, they all made the same observation.

Their car was securely locked.

But their keys were gone.

Just like their phone or wallet that was inside the vehicle.

Alerted, the Saint-Malo police received six complaints in a few days last weekend, half of which concerned vehicles parked on boulevard Hébert, parallel to the huge Sillon beach.

Each time, motorists had used the same hiding place: in the wheel, under the wheel and in the shock absorber.

When they returned, they never found their keys.

But the thieves had still taken care to close their vehicle.

“This is the first time that such a series has been observed”, assures Commissioner Guillaume Catherine.
