Sharjah Police seized drugs worth 135 million dirhams last year

The annual report of the Sharjah Police, issued from last year until May of this year, revealed that 201 cases of drug trafficking and promotion with a market value of about 135 million dirhams were seized.

The report, which "Emirates Today" obtained a copy of, stated that quantities of crystal drug were seized, amounting to 822 kilograms, 94 kilograms of hashish, 251 kilograms of heroin, and three million 403 thousand and 132 drug tablets.

He pointed out that the most prominent drug cases that were seized last year were the apricot case, the poisoned witch, the poisoned rope, the extinguishers, the 77 pandemic, and the lightning force.

The efforts of the Sharjah Police to combat drugs resulted in the organization of 81 awareness-raising events and activities, an increase of 58.8% over the previous year, which contributed to an increase in the number of beneficiaries by 37.8%.

The report pointed out that preparations are underway for the future rehabilitation center, which is a remedial treatment project in which the efforts of specialists working in the Sharjah Police and the Sharjah Force are being combined to rehabilitate and treat male, female and juvenile drug and addiction patients to return them to be good members of society.

The project includes a multi-section building consisting of the center’s administration and the outpatient department, in which the initial examination, detoxification, withdrawal symptoms, interviewing addictive patients with their families, and communicating with the center after the deposit period has elapsed, as well as the residential deposit buildings, which consist of four sections to provide treatment for four categories (patients, owners issues, events, women).
