China News Service, Geneva, June 15. Chen Xu, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations in Geneva, made a joint speech on behalf of more than 30 countries at the 50th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the 14th, calling on all parties to promote multilateralism in the field of human rights and jointly promote international human rights. Healthy business development.

The joint statement pointed out that in recent years, the politicization and confrontation of the UN Human Rights Council have been on the rise, and false information has been rampant, which seriously deviates from the original purpose of the Human Rights Council. We are deeply concerned about this.

Multilateral human rights institutions should be platforms for cooperative dialogue, not venues for divisive confrontation.

All parties should promote multilateralism in the field of human rights, uphold the principles of universality, impartiality, objectivity, non-selectivity and non-politicization, and jointly promote the healthy development of the international human rights cause.

The joint speech put forward four propositions: First, adhere to fairness and justice.

Multilateral human rights mechanisms should abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, promote the common values of all mankind, oppose the politicization and instrumentalization of human rights issues, and oppose "double standards" and interference in the internal affairs of member states under the pretext of human rights.

The second is to adhere to openness and inclusiveness.

All parties should strengthen solidarity, conduct constructive dialogue and cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual respect, expand consensus, reduce differences, learn from each other and make progress together.

The third is to uphold objectivity and fairness.

Multilateral human rights mechanisms should work based on real and objective information, respect the sovereignty of each country, respect the human rights development path chosen by each country according to their national conditions, and provide technical assistance on the basis of respecting the wishes of the countries concerned.

  Fourth, adhere to regional fairness.

The personnel composition of multilateral human rights mechanisms such as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and special mechanisms should reflect the principle of equitable geographical distribution, attract talents from developing countries, and make multilateral human rights mechanisms truly representative.
