Muqtada al-Sadr: I announce my withdrawal from political life so that I do not participate with those who looted Iraq

According to a video recording, published by his private office, al-Sadr said: "If the corrupt participate in the elections, I also do not participate, and this is a covenant between me and God, between me and you, and between me and my people as well."

Al-Sadr added that he might participate “if God will be released” and “the corrupt will be removed and whoever looted and stole Iraq and allowed blood to be removed.” Al-Sadr called on the bloc’s representatives to remain “on the alert,” saying: “We participated in the elections, and I say: God forbid, you are The bloc remains on standby,” he said, noting that he might rule out one or two of them, urging them not to disperse.
