On April 9, 2021, Shved announced that a criminal case had been opened in the republic on the fact of the genocide of the Belarusian population during the Great Patriotic War.

In early January of this year, the country signed the law “On the Genocide of the Belarusian People”, the document provides for the legal recognition of the genocide of the Belarusian people, which was committed by Nazi criminals and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War, as well as in the post-war period until 1951.
