According to the report compiled by the South American Overseas Chinese News Network, for foreign citizens whose entry permit documents expire after March 16, 2020, the Brazilian Federal Police has once again relaxed the deadline for completing the legalization of identity documents. Dates, up to September 15, 2022.

  The decision of the Federal Police Service was published on March 16 this year in Notice No. 28 of the Official Gazette of the Federal Government (DOU), the Brazilian state news agency reported.

This is the third time since November 2020 that the Federal Police has extended the validity period of foreign citizenship documents.

The specific provisions of the announcement are as follows:

  Article 1 For foreigners whose entry permit documents expire after March 16, 2020, the deadline for obtaining or registering residence permits and temporary visa registration is extended to September 15, 2022.

  Paragraph 1. Foreign nationals who complete the legalization of their identity documents within the prescribed time limit will not be penalized for delayed registration or overstaying.

  Paragraph 2 The violations mentioned in this clause occurred before March 16, 2020, or did not comply with the provisions of Article 109 of Law No. 13445 of May 24, 2017, Article 2, 3 and 4 , will not be exempt from fines.

  Paragraph 3 This clause applies to immigrants and visitors who are applying for necessary documents such as residence permits, but cannot complete their appointments due to regional restrictions of service agencies.

  Article 2 Immigration status documents, refugee status documents, National Immigration Registration Card (CRNM, commonly known as "Red Card") and Temporary National Immigration Temporary Registration Card (DPRNM) that expire after March 16, 2020 are deemed to have been extended , will continue to be valid until September 15, 2022, and can be used to handle various businesses before this date, including registration, renewal or date change, provided that the provisions of Article 1, paragraph 3, of this announcement are met.

  Article 3 For foreign citizens who have been living in Brazil, in the process of processing identity materials, if the passports, identity documents and non-criminal certificates issued abroad expire after March 16, 2020, as long as they expire in 2022 The legalization procedures will be started before September 15, and these materials will be accepted.

This regulation does not apply to the case of staying abroad for more than 30 days.

  Article 4 This announcement will take effect on March 15, 2022.
