Abu Dhabi Health Authority launches a unified system for managing medical complaints

The Abu Dhabi Department of Health announced the launch of the electronic medical complaints management system, which will link all requests and procedures for investigations to medical complaints through a unified electronic platform. With medical investigations within a maximum period of three working days, the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health announced the launch of the new “Check” program for the comprehensive periodic detection of diseases and their early treatment, in order to enable “Thiqa” card holders to benefit from an integrated medical examination.
The department stipulated that the persons nominated by the medical treatment providers should be familiar with the laws and procedures related to medical errors, and that the candidate should be authorized to access confidential documents (patients’ medical files and others), and that the candidate should represent the health facility in all dealings with the Health Department related to the investigation. In medical complaints, the candidate must also attach an authorization certificate from the executive director or medical director of the health facility.
The department indicated that medical treatment service providers bear all legal responsibilities resulting from registering people's names in the system, including updating and canceling their powers, and called on them, in case they need to obtain information and inquiries in this regard, to communicate with the medical reviews and patient support department in the department.
On the other hand, the department provides the auditors through its website with the service of requesting investigation and obtaining a report on the medical error from the medical services provided by health care providers licensed in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The steps of the service include filling out the electronic application form and attaching the required documents through the available channels, and receiving A text message confirming receipt of the application, and receipt of the investigation result by e-mail.
