It was just before midnight that the public alerted about two injured men at Möllevångstorget in Malmö.

Both men are in their 20s and had to be taken to hospital.

According to Region Skåne, one was life-threatening, while the other was described as seriously injured.

During the morning, the news came that one man had died.

- This applies to the most seriously injured man.

The other is still being cared for in hospital, says Nils Norling, press spokesperson at Malmö Police.

Looking for witnesses

The site was cordoned off pending a crime scene investigation.

No one has been detained so far.

According to Sydsvenskan, the police are looking for a 22-year-old man "with a violent past", but there is nothing that Nils Norling wants to confirm.

None of the injured wanted to participate in the investigation, which means that the police are extra anxious to get in touch with any witnesses.

The incident is being investigated as a suspected attempted murder.

- There were a lot of people nearby, as it always is on Möllevången.

We want to get in touch with anyone who may have seen something.

It can apply to people, vehicles or something else, says Nils Norling.
