A tragedy occurred in the town of Pertuis, in the Vaucluse, this Tuesday.

A 3-year-old child drowned in the Durance, a hundred meters from his home, reports

It was around 5:45 p.m. when the emergency services were alerted.

Dispatched to the scene, at the level of the municipal road of Iscles du Mulet, rescuers and specialized divers pulled the young victim out of the water.

They tried to resuscitate the little boy, in vain.

His death was soon pronounced.

An open investigation

The circumstances of the drowning are unknown at this time.

A police investigation has been opened to shed light on this tragedy.

The Pertuis company is in charge of the investigations.
