This was stated by the representative of the UN Secretary General Stéphane Dujarric.

“Our colleagues on the ground doing humanitarian work told us that the situation in Donetsk remains extremely tense.

The escalation of tension over the past week has caused great suffering to civilians, including people providing assistance and living in the city, ”TASS quoted him as saying.

Dujarric also recalled the shelling of the maternity hospital building in Donetsk. 

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov commented on the situation with the increased shelling of Donetsk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, the increase in the number of attacks on Donetsk "does not fit into any gates."

The mayor of Donetsk, Aleksey Kulemzin, on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel, said that on June 13, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had been continuously shelling the city for six hours.

As a result of the shelling, five people were killed and another 33 civilians were injured.
