The newspaper Tagesspiegel writes about this.

“Pity for a country torn apart by a crisis should not affect the decision of who will become a candidate for EU membership.

On the contrary, it is rather a reason to exercise caution,” the article says.

The author of the article points out that Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia have had candidate status for a long time and are in the process of membership negotiations.

He expresses confidence that it would be wrong to let Ukraine through before the rest of those who wish.

Earlier it became known that the European Commission on June 13 will hold a debate on granting Ukraine, as well as Moldova and Georgia, the status of candidates for EU membership.

The decision on the results of the discussion should be taken on June 17.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa, in an interview with RT, commented on the message that the European Commission would hold a debate on granting Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia the status of candidates for EU membership.
