Russia is capable of causing a severe electricity crisis in the United States

An American media report indicated that Russia is capable of causing a major electricity crisis in the United States with one decision.

According to the report published by "The Hill" website by its authors Matt Bowen and Paul Dabar, of the Center for Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, the United States could face dire consequences if Russia stops supplying American energy companies with enriched uranium to power reactors.

"This could lead to reactor shutdowns, and given that nuclear power is responsible for generating more than 20 percent of electricity in some parts of the country, electricity prices will jump even above current inflation rates," the report added.

The report added that many of the reactors operating in the United States and the European Union are manufactured by Russia, which supplies them with its materials, and if the conflict between Moscow and the West continues, many nuclear power plants will be forced to suspend work.

To get out of this situation, it is necessary to resume the work of the conversion plant in the United States, which has been idle for many years, but it will not be able to operate at full capacity without government assistance.

At the same time, uranium still needs to be enriched, which is why it is imperative that private companies explore strategies to expand production and technologies to replace Russian supplies.
