Joar Mikaelsson in Luleå has been diagnosed with ADD.

It is like ADHD but without hyperactivity and in his case means that he both has difficulty filtering out sounds and impressions and that he has difficulty with the "starter motor", ie getting started with activities.

- I like to learn and work, but have a hard time getting started when I am not interested in the subject, says Joar.

Finished school when he was bullied

He stopped going to school in grade four because of bullying.

At five, he made another attempt to come back, which led to him being burned out and having anxiety.

- The teacher told me that I was allowed to sit in my own room, but that does not help, says Joar, who feels that the school had neither the knowledge nor the resources to help him.

Still a homemaker

Today Joar is 15 years old and will soon start ninth.

He is still a homemaker, but today it still works better.

After changing schools, he now gets more help and for his ADD he has received medicine that makes it easier to focus.
