A total of SEK 881 billion will be distributed in a historic investment to increase the pace of development of Sweden's infrastructure.

Jämtland County can take part of the money in several ways.

The midfield is distributed 800 million to undergo a proper refurbishment.

Of which 300 million is spent on the stretch between Östersund and Storlien.

- The central line is an important line section that connects lower Norrland, from Sundsvall, via Östersund to Storlien.

An upgrade of the track is important for commuting opportunities, for the hospitality industry in Åredalen, but also important from a total defense perspective as the connection connects two militarily strategically important points, Trondheim and Östersund, says Jonas Nadersson, chairman candidate regional development committee (S), in a press release.

Several reinforcements

But it's not just Mittbanan that is gaining momentum.

The state subsidy for individual road maintenance receives an increase of SEK 1 billion compared with the previous plan.

- The individual road network in the county is of great importance for business transport, both heavier transport such as timber, but also other freight transport and passenger transport for the hospitality industry, says Kalle Olsson, Member of Parliament (S), in a press release.

Inlandsbanan's annual operating grant will be increased to a total of SEK 2.1 billion during the plan period.
