The decision means that it is now forbidden to catch crayfish in the area.

You may not handle uncooked crayfish or use fish as bait fish in a water other than the one in which it was caught.

In addition, fishing gear, boats and machinery or anything else used in the area must be disinfected before it can be moved to another lake or watercourse.

The County Administrative Board suspects that the infection comes from illegally planted signal crayfish in or upstream of the area that has now been declared infected with crayfish plague, which means that the area may be expanded.

The rules apply until 2024, the county administrative board announces in a press release.
