There are many indications that there is a wolf in the county right now, something that VK was the first to pay attention to.

Since the end of last week and over the weekend, the County Administrative Board has received five observations from an area that extends from Skärträsk and up towards Skellefteåhamn.

It is unclear whether it is several wolves or one, but according to Ellinor Sahlén, predator responsible at the County Administrative Board in Västerbotten, it is most likely one and the same wolf that moved from the birth review and is in transit on its way elsewhere.

First thought it was a dog

In Bygdeträsk, Maria Andersson looked out the window on Thursday night and thought she saw a dog on the road but something in how it moved felt wrong.

- I called my husband and we stated that it must be a wolf.

Maria Andersson says that the wolf was totally uninterested in them and just looked straight ahead.

- It was very purposeful and barely reacted when we whistled at it, it was only going forward the fastest way it felt like.

As a hunter, Maria Andersson does not think it feels so fun to see a wolf, but she admits that it was cool to see one so close up in safe protection of the house's walls.

Many observations in the county

- It seems that many have had the chance to see this wolf and chosen to report it to us.

We have received several observations at the end, says Ellinor Sahlén, predator handler at the County Administrative Board in Västerbotten.

This spring, the County Administrative Board was able to identify a wolf that was traced to Finland, but if the wolf that has now been observed is the same wolf as it, the County Administrative Board can not say.

What to do if you see a wolf?

- Then it is good to talk and make a fuss of yourself, but it is very rare for a wolf to be a danger to humans.

They want to stay away, Ellinor Sahlén explains.
