Ninety-three billion euros is the tidy sum that Russia received during the first 100 days of the war in Ukraine, by exporting its fossil fuels.

The accounts were made by the Center for research on energy and clean Air (CREA), an energy research center based in Finland.

While Ukraine calls on the West to cut off all trade with Russia, according to this report, the EU has been the main buyer.

Almost two-thirds of fossil fuel purchases from Russia in the first 100 days of the war in Ukraine were made by the European Union.

Admittedly, China is the biggest importer, but it is closely followed by Germany, which has spent more than twelve billion euros, followed, a little further, by Italy.

So, it's true, in May, fossil fuel exports were down compared to before the war.

The energy and clean air research center recorded a 15% drop, but Russia benefited from the rise in prices, partly linked to the post-Covid recovery, also linked to the war in Ukraine.

Prices have risen so much over one year that despite the drop in volume, despite the discount granted on oil by Russia compared to world prices, revenues, although down compared to March, remain at record highs.

Among the countries that have made efforts to reduce their imports are Poland, Finland and the Baltic States.

On the contrary, the report singles out China, India and France.

France is, according to the CREA, the largest buyer of Russian liquefied natural gas.

BREAKING: Russia earned EUR 93 billion in revenue from fossil fuel exports in the first 100 days of the invasion of Ukraine.

The EU imported 61% of this, worth approximately 57 billion EUR.
