FDA: 9 children have died after consuming infant formula

Overseas Network, June 13. According to the Washington Post and many other US media reports on the 12th, the latest documents released by the US Food and Drug Administration show that as many as 9 children in the United States are eating the food produced by a factory in Michigan. Infants and young children have died after being fed formula, seven more than previously known.

The FDA investigated 128 consumer complaints received from March 2021 to March this year, of which 9 were related to infant formula deaths. The source of infection has not yet been determined.

The agency has previously said two children died and two others became ill after consuming milk powder containing Cronobacter sakazakii made at Abbott's Sturgis, Michigan, plant.

In response, Abbott told US media that there was no causal relationship between its infant formula and the death.
