The author Elina Backman is new to the Finnish detective story scene.
Despite this, she has already won several awards and was one of the nominees for best translated crime novel by the Swedish Detective Academy last year.
She believes that Finnish detective stories will receive more international attention in the future.

Finnish detectives have not achieved as much success abroad as their Nordic neighbors.
Backman believes that this is because Finnish detective story writers have not been as good at marketing themselves.
Something that, according to her, is now changing.
- I think we in Finland have hidden a little how good books we really have, she says and continues:
- But as they say, the quietest people know most about everything.
