It's a deal for lack of anything better.

After weeks of negotiations, ten Republicans and ten Democrats presented a list of proposals likely to win the necessary votes in both houses of Congress.

The text plans to increase the budget allocated to mental health and to strengthen safety in schools.

It also plans to strengthen laws that allow the confiscation of weapons from someone deemed dangerous to society and to themselves.

Measures far from what Joe Biden, the majority of elected Democrats and associations fighting against gun violence are calling for.

In the proposed text, no ban on the sale of assault rifles, no ban on the sale of weapons to at least 21 years old.

“

The proposal does not do what needs to be done

If passed by Congress, it would be the first gun control legislation in 28 years.
