Lot-et-Garonne is the only department of New Aquitaine where Marine Le Pen came out on top in the second round of the presidential election ahead of Emmanuel Macron.

The RN confirms its establishment, and qualifies its candidates for the second round in the three constituencies of Lot-et-Garonne where two triangular are possible, while an outgoing LREM deputy, Olivier Damasin, is eliminated in the first round.

In the second constituency, in Marmande, the MEP RN Hélène Laporte takes the lead in the ballot (30.5%) and should face next Sunday in a triangular the mayor of Virazeil Christophe Courrelongue (Nupes-PS, 26%) and the deputy outgoing Alexandre Freschi (ENS-Renaissance, 25.6%).

Surprises

A triangular will also take place in Agen (1st constituency) where the outgoing deputy Michel Lauzzana (ENS-Renaissance) is in the lead (29.6%) ahead of the RN Sébastien Delbosq (27.9%) and the candidate Nupes-EELV, also regional councillor, Maryse Combres (26.2%).

In Villeneuve-sur-Lot (3rd), in the former constituency of socialist minister Jérôme Cahuzac, outgoing deputy Olivier Damasin (Ens-Renaissance) was eliminated in the first round with 20.15% of the vote.

The second round will see a surprise clash between the departmental head of RN Annick Cousin (25%) and a Nupes-LFI candidate newcomer to politics and comedian by profession, Xavier Czalpa (22.9%).
