Saudi Arabia closes registration for domestic pilgrims

Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the closure of the registration door for domestic pilgrims, explaining that priority will be given to those who are immune to the Corona virus, and those who have not previously performed Hajj.

The ministry said in a press statement today that the number of applicants for Hajj from inside Saudi Arabia has reached more than 390,000, pointing out that the selection of candidates will be done by electronic lottery.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah had stipulated that citizens or residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whether a resident or a citizen, wishing to register for Hajj, must not exceed 65 years of age.

On May 9, Saudi Arabia announced that it would allow about one million people to perform the Hajj this year, from inside and outside the Kingdom, in a significant increase in the number of pilgrims after two years of strict restrictions due to the Corona virus.
