Haiti: the 38 passengers of the minibus kidnapped by a gang have been released

In the aftermath of the kidnapping of two minibuses and their 38 passages, a public transport union announced on Saturday June 11 that all the kidnapped have been freed from the hands of criminal gangs.
The case illustrates the reigning insecurity in Port-au-Prince, where daily life has been punctuated by kidnappings and then the release of gang victims for months.

It was a public transport union that announced the news of this group release.
Via a short message posted on Twitter, the Association of Owners and Drivers of Haiti said that the 36 passengers and two drivers
taken hostage on Friday June 10
by the gang in the Village de Dieu slum had been released at midday. Saturday.

The two minibuses where they had taken place to go to the south of Haiti were also recovered.
No other information has been made public: it is not known whether a ransom was demanded and paid to the kidnappers, who are part of one of the gangs
which have totally controlled
the western exit of Port-au-Prince for more than a year.
To the east of the capital, criminal gangs also often target public transport vehicles: on May 8, a bus from Santo Domingo was
hijacked by the 400 Mawozo gang

Five Turkish nationals who were among the passengers still remain in the hands of the criminal organization.
