A man who was staying at a motel in Florida, USA, mistook a crocodile for a 'dog on a leash' and got into an accident.

Local media such as ABC News reported on the 8th local time that a man was bitten by a crocodile while taking a walk at the Warm Mineral Springs Motel and injured his leg.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office in Florida, the man was walking around the motel around 12:30 p.m. when he noticed a moving black object in the bushes.

The man thought the object he saw was a 'dog on a long leash' and continued walking without taking any action, but this object was none other than a 'crocodile'.

The crocodile came out of the bushes and bit the right leg of a man who was walking and drooped.

A Sarasota County Sheriff's spokesperson explained the situation at the time: "As soon as the man recognized that the object in question was a crocodile, he tried to run away, but he had already felt the crocodile biting his leg."

Fortunately, a hotel official who was on the phone found it and the man was taken to a nearby hospital for first aid.

The crocodile was captured by a sheriff who arrived before the animal experts arrived and was later taken to a nearby Townsend farm.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said in a statement that the alligator was about two meters long and said it was investigating the incident.

"The life of a guest man who was bitten by a crocodile is not life-threatening, and he will be discharged from the hospital soon."
