Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a regular press conference on June 10 that the attack on the U.S. Capitol more than a year ago shocked the world and aroused widespread concern and strong doubts about American-style democracy among the American people and the international community.

Such an incident in the United States is an "attempted coup d'etat", and in other countries it is a "beautiful landscape" and a "color revolution", which once again exposes the essence of the US's political manipulation by using the "double standard" of democracy.

Zhao Lijian emphasized that there is no democracy that is superior to others in the world. Labeling, politicizing, and weaponizing democracy will only hurt others and oneself in the end.

The US side should deeply reflect on its own "democratic deficit" and effectively stop its wrong words and deeds that create turmoil and division in the world under the guise of democracy.
