The Russian bombing of the Azot chemical plant in the front-line city of Severodonetsk caused a huge fire after tons of oil spilled, the governor of Ukraine's Luhansk region said on Saturday.

Jayday, who was speaking on national television, did not say whether the fire had been put out in the factory, where hundreds of civilians were sheltering.

He said the fighting did not stop in Severodonetsk, a small city in Luhansk that has become the focus of Russia's offensive in eastern Ukraine.
