- We thought we had too many incidents last summer where parents or accompanying adults of children who were not able to swim did not have good enough control, says Johan Nilsson, supervisor at the bathing business in Luleå.

Last summer, the bathing staff sounded the alarm that on several occasions they had discovered children who had been left without the attention of accompanying adults.

- It led to us being forced to jump in and pick up children.

"The adult is responsible"

The incidents ended happily, but ahead of this year's bathing season, the bathing staff in Luleå is appealing, via the campaign "Keep an eye out!"

to parents and other adults who visit Aronsbadet and Råneåpoolen to keep track of the children.

- That is why we are launching this campaign.

We want to clarify that it is the adult who is responsible for the child, not the lifeguards, says Johan Nilsson.

Arm's length

The supervisor points out that the lifeguards are there to prevent accidents - not guard the children.

Non-swimming children should be kept within arm's length or in the children's pool.

In the video, Jonas Nilsson tells more about the adults' responsibilities and how to behave when you are with the children and take a bath.
