The rupture of existing economic relations by Washington and its allies led to the formation of a "new G8", said State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

He drew attention to the fact that the sanctions imposed against Russia hit the economies of countries such as the United States, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Canada.

“In the first quarter of 2022, a 1.5% drop in GDP was recorded in the United States, and inflation reached its maximum level since December 1981, reaching 8.6%,” Volodin said.

At the same time, the group of eight countries "not participating in the sanctions wars" - China, India, Russia, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, Iran, Turkey - outperformed the old group by 24.4% in terms of GDP at PPP, he noted.

“The United States, with its own hands, created the conditions for countries wishing to build an equal dialogue and mutually beneficial relations to actually form a“ new Big Eight ”with Russia,” Volodin emphasized.

The United States, according to him, “sinking” economically, continues to create tension in the world and is doing everything to solve its problems at the expense of others.

“And this will inevitably lead to the loss of hegemony in the world,” Volodin concluded.

Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Belik, in an interview with RT, expressed the opinion that over time, "this new G-8 will expand significantly."

“Despite the fact that Russia is under sanctions pressure from Western countries, about two-thirds of the world's population live in countries that support it or adhere to neutrality.

The leaders of these states do not succumb to the cheap propaganda of the collective West, which is plunging the world into a new economic crisis, ”the deputy noted.

He explained that the United States, in an attempt to satisfy its imperial ambitions, missed an important fact: Russia is the most important partner in solving world problems.

States that understand this intend to continue building constructive interaction with Moscow, Belik added.

“We are now seeing the destruction of many old interstate unions and the creation of new associations, which are based on a focus on national interests, and not on working out the manuals of Washington politicians,” the deputy concluded.

Political scientist Ruslan Balbek, in an interview with RT, expressed the opinion that in the "new big eight" all participants will be equal in rights, and "not run as vassals of one master."

“Changes in the strategic balance in the world point directly to the need to create alternative political alliances, and the New G8 could be a prime example.

Yes, today the West has a strong position in the world, but its reputation as a reliable partner is pretty tarnished, ”he noted.

On June 6, in an address to the organizers of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the West's mistakes in the economy caused a wave of global inflation.

“Many years of mistakes by Western countries in economic policy and illegitimate sanctions have led to a wave of global inflation, to the destruction of the usual logistics and production chains, to a sharp increase in poverty and food shortages,” the Russian leader noted.

The head of state previously drew attention to the fact that the short-sighted policy of the United States and Europe led to an increase in prices.

Putin, in particular, noted that one of the reasons for the unfavorable situation on the world food market was the US policy during the pandemic, when Washington decided to “take the path of injecting large amounts of money” in support of the population and certain sectors of the economy, which led to a significant increase in the volume of money supply in the United States.

“This was the first step, a very serious step towards the development of an unfavorable situation on the food market, because, first of all, food prices went up,” the Russian leader explained.

He also recalled that Europe and the United States, after the start of the Russian special operation, began to take steps that aggravated the situation on the world fertilizer markets, also causing, as a result, an increase in prices for agricultural products.

Putin noted that such actions are "an absolutely short-sighted policy that leads to a dead end."

In addition, Viacheslav Volodin, commenting in early June on the approval by the European Union of the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions, noted that the EU and the United States had exhausted their arsenal of means to curb the development of Russia and, taking new sanctions measures, were forced to choose between a bad and a very bad scenario for their economies and citizens. countries.

“Washington is doing everything to ensure that the main burden from the implementation of sanctions falls on European countries.

It deliberately weakens the economy of the EU states in order to make them even more dependent on the United States, ”the parliamentarian emphasized.
