It's starting to crack, on the beaches, around Montpellier (Hérault).

The bravest even take a dip in the Mediterranean, which is still a bit chilly.

But first, beach freaks have two immutable rituals: get the back of your neck wet before diving, and… take a look at the Blue Flag prize list.

This label, created in 1985, guarantees not only excellent bathing water, but also that the municipality pays particular attention to cleanliness, collection and recycling of waste, that the local wastewater treatment plant is up to standard. , and that there are facilities for people with reduced mobility.

44 labeled beaches in Hérault

The Hérault is, once again this year, the department of France where there are the most bathing places with a Blue Flag: 44. Among the beaches labeled for this season, there are those of Frontignan (Entrée, Port, Bergerie, Aresquiers, Grau), La Grande-Motte (Grand Travers, Echirolles, Couchant, Rose des Sables, Saint-Clair, Point Zéro), Carnon (Centre, Degrasse, Avranche, Dunes), Palavas-les-Flots (Albatros, Saint-Pierre, Grec, Saint-Maurice, Saint-Roch), Sète (Trois digues, Castellas, Lazaret, Baleine, Fontaine, Lido) or Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone (Pilou, Prévost).

Note that some freshwater areas of the department also benefit from the Blue Flag this year again, such as the beach at the Lac du Salagou campsite, in Clermont-l'Hérault, or the Gua des brasses and the Bouldouires, at Lac de la Raviège, in La Salvetat-sur-Agout.

For swimmers who prefer the wild charm of the Gard, the beaches of Grau-du-Roi are also labeled: Boucanet, Right Bank, Left Bank, Port-Camargue North, Port-Camargue South and Pointe de l'Espiguette.
