Tradition is broken in Arjeplog - school graduation is moved: "The church can be experienced as scary"

Only high school graduates and high school students in Arjeplog are allowed to celebrate graduation in church.

According to Helene Lindberg, principal at Öbergaskolan and Kyrkholmsskolan F-9, it is a decision that is made for a reason.

"Listened to students and teachers"

- It is the school's concern how we arrange the school graduation.

For me, it is the opinions of students and staff that apply, says principal Helene Lindberg. 

But there are many who want to celebrate graduation in church? 

- That's right, but there are also children and students who do not want to go to church because you think the surroundings there are scary.

You do not know all the people and you feel safer in the small things, says Lindberg.

"Relieved for some teachers"

Why is it a relief for teachers not to be in church?

- It is a relief for some teachers.

You can have your end in the classroom and you sing together.
