To maintain the regional broadcasting network, the working team of the expert meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications expects economic rationality in terms of cost when replacing small relay stations such as mountainous areas with high-speed, large-capacity data communication = broadband. I presented the plan to be done at the meeting on the 10th.

Regarding the maintenance of the local broadcasting network, the maintenance and management costs of equipment and the securing of human resources have become issues amid changes in the environment such as population decline, and the working team of the expert meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has been considering so far. The plan was presented at the meeting on the 10th.

In this plan, as a result of estimating the cost of substituting small-scale relay stations such as mountainous areas called "mini-sate stations" with high-speed, large-capacity data communication = broadband, about half of the "mini-sate stations" will be in 2040. There are expectations for economic rationality through alternatives.

On the other hand, when substituting with broadband, various institutional and operational issues such as copyright rights processing, understanding of residents, and differences in quality and functions from broadcasting are expected, so understanding of local residents. We will work on it experimentally, verify and examine it.

The Council of Experts will also summarize the future image of broadcasting, including these proposals, next month.
