"The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia treats with absolute indifference the decision of the President of Ukraine to include Russian rectors in some kind of sanctions list," RIA Novosti quoted the ministry as saying.

Earlier it was reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree imposing sanctions on 236 Russian universities, including against Moscow State University, MGIMO, HSE, MSTU and MIPT.

Sanctions were also imposed against the rectors of a number of Russian universities, including the rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy, the rector of MGIMO Anatoly Torkunov, and the rector of the Higher School of Economics Nikita Anisimov.
