The spring flood means that Vattenfall now allows large amounts of water to flow through the power plant in Stornorrfors. So much water that they alerted Umeå municipality about the flows. As a safety measure, we have closed the parts of the promenade that then flooded, says Per Hilmersson, street operations manager Umeå.
In recent days, just over 1,300 cubic meters of water have passed the power plant and dam in Stornorrfors, every second.
The last similar amount of water was released every 2018, when certain parts of the promenade ended up under water.
