It was on Tuesday that the investigation was started by immersing a specially built underwater drone, an ROV, in the water to start the photogrammetry.

The Västervik company Ocean Discovery is one of the companies that searches Estonia and the surrounding marine environment.

But the drone got stuck under the ship just minutes after launching.

The adversity led to a day's delay and it was only on Thursday morning that the drone could be launched again.

- We are down by the wreck and filming and photographing the bottom of the ship and everything works, says Jonas Bäckstrand.

Relieved mood

On Thursday, the weather was partly cloudy and the wind is a bit stronger than Wednesday, but that did not disturb the survey.

- The mood right now is very relieved.

You see many smiles, says TT's reporter on board the ship.

Right now, the underwater drone is at a depth of 68-70 meters.

The drone was lowered to an easily accessible place to get a little warm in the clothes.

According to Jonas Bäckstrand, the visibility is good.

The timetable holds

Bäckstrand also says that the planning has taken into account technical problems and days with bad weather.

Therefore, the problematic start has not shaken the schedule, he says.

The Accident Investigation Board Norway and companies specializing in underwater drones will be at sea for weeks to investigate both the wreck and the bottom on which it lies.

When you are done, the intention is to have a complete 3D model of the wreck as it looks on the seabed.
