A man died on a construction site in a forest in Esserts-Blay (Savoie) this Thursday in the middle of the day.

The victim was involved in work carried out by a subcontractor of the company Réseau de Transport d'Electricité (RTE).

He was on board a backhoe operating on a path near a ravine, says France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

A police investigation

The machine tipped over and was precipitated about thirty meters lower.

A gendarmerie investigation was carried out to determine the reasons that led to the death of the worker.

After the fall of the backhoe loader, the alert was given and a rescue operation was set up.

In particular, it mobilized around twenty firefighters, a Dragon 74 helicopter and a Samu crew.

The victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest when rescuers arrived at the accident site.

They tried to revive her, but to no avail.
