More than 1,500 specialists were sent to the liberated territories of Donbass to restore key civilian infrastructure facilities and housing and communal services.

This figure was given by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, who visited both republics as part of a Russian delegation in May.

So far, the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation is only assessing the damage caused to civilian infrastructure in the LPR and DPR.

On May 19, Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, announced that the Russian regions would take patronage over individual cities and regions of the Donbass republics.

The leadership of these regions has already begun work: delegations have arrived in the republics to assess the scale of the upcoming work and determine which objects are primarily in need of restoration.

RT talked with the leadership of several sponsoring regions of the Russian Federation and found out exactly how they will help the residents of Donbass return to normal life.

Restore schools and kindergartens

Pervomaisky district of the DPR was liberated at the beginning of a special military operation in Ukraine.

In May, a delegation from the Kursk region arrived there, taking patronage over the region.

“The infrastructure of the region was not affected by the hostilities as much as in Mariupol,” RT was told in the press service of the governor of the Kursk region.

“Private residential and multi-apartment buildings, social and administrative facilities, education and healthcare facilities need to be restored.”

They noted that at the end of May, the authorities of the Kursk region sent the first humanitarian convoy with cargo for housing and communal services and landscaping to the Pervomaisky district of the DPR.

A detailed list of affected facilities was also drawn up.

Among them, schools and kindergartens are the first to be restored.

Many of them housed refugees, and these buildings need to be renovated.

It is also necessary to arrange food supplies to the educational institutions of the Pervomaisky district.

“Schools need to provide students with food, without which the educational process can last no more than four hours a day.

Kindergartens for the same reason suspended work, ”explain RT interlocutors in the administration of the Kursk governor.

Refugees are another important problem in the Pervomaisky district.

According to local authorities, more than 25,000 Mariupol residents live in temporary accommodation centers (TACs).

Many of them do not even have documents and personal belongings, so the patronage region will help provide them with basic necessities.

"Need construction equipment"

The Chelyabinsk region will help restore the city of Yasinovataya in the Donetsk People's Republic.

The regional leadership assured RT that restoration work with the participation of specialists from Chelyabinsk was in full swing.

The region sent the first batch of humanitarian aid to the DPR.

“In the future, we plan to send additional volumes of humanitarian aid there, based on the needs of the population.

These needs are carefully recorded by the specialists of our delegation, ”representatives of the government of the Chelyabinsk region told RT.

Yasinovataya Mayor Dmitry Shevchenko confirmed that Chelyabinsk specialists have begun to restore peaceful life in the city, and named the objects that need to be repaired in the first place: these are schools, kindergartens, roads.

“In the city of Yasinovataya, all schools are now broken (there are nine in total), we will first restore them,” the head of the city explained to RT.

- As for civil infrastructure facilities, the roads need to be restored first of all.

Machines, construction equipment are required.

We have utility companies that are self-sufficient, but we need equipment.”

The city hopes that the first batch of specialized equipment will arrive in the DPR from the Chelyabinsk region at the end of June.

The delegation of the Russian region assured RT that all these vehicles had already been reserved by the Chelyabinsk authorities and were being prepared for shipment to the Donetsk People's Republic.

“We sent the list of resources necessary for the restoration of Yasinovataya to the leadership of the Chelyabinsk region.

From there, for example, construction specialists, designers have already arrived to us - now they are working with might and main here, ”Dmitry Shevchenko added.

Provide electricity and water

Chuvashia will help strategically important enterprises on the territory of the DPR.

These are two electrotechnical plants: Torez and Donetsk.

At the end of May, a delegation headed by the Minister of Industry and Energy of Chuvashia, Alexander Kondratyev, visited it.

“In solving the problem of supporting our brothers, we made a decision for ourselves to find what we are strong in,” the official explained.

“Chuvashia is traditionally strong in the electrical engineering cluster, equipment that ensures the reliable functioning of the power supply and energy supply system.”

In an interview with RT, a representative of the administration of the head of the Chuvash Republic added that the region also sent equipment and materials to the Donbass necessary to restore damaged electrical networks and energy facilities.

The cargo was delivered as gratuitous humanitarian aid - the administration noted that this is already the tenth convoy sent to Donbass from Chuvashia.

“We sent the necessary equipment in the amount of 25 tons - these are transformers, contactors, cable products - in order to solve the priority tasks of restoring electricity and energy supply,” said the Minister of Industry and Energy of Chuvashia.

The delegation of the Russian region found out that the energy supply infrastructure in the Donbass was destroyed by an average of more than 60% - the Chuvash authorities set themselves the task of helping local residents restore these capacities.

“Our task is to supply electricity and water in order to improve life and restore industrial enterprises that have fallen into the war zone.

The unique capabilities of the electrical cluster allow us to promptly and quickly supply voltage to a number of substations,” said Alexander Kondratiev, Minister of Industry and Energy of the Chuvash Republic.
