Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on June 8.

A reporter asked: According to reports, on the 6th, Dai Qi, the US Trade Representative, said that 85% of the production of solar panels in the United States relies on China, and the relevant supply chain runs through the entire Xinjiang region, where there is a serious "forced labor" problem.

What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian said that China has repeatedly pointed out that the so-called "forced labor" in Xinjiang is an outright lie of the century.

A statement by an official from the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, which has been exposed recently, has once again proved unmistakably that the U.S. deliberately spread lies about "forced labor" in Xinjiang in order to exclude China from the global supply chain.

China is the world's largest country in photovoltaic manufacturing and installed capacity, while Xinjiang is the world's most important production base for polysilicon, the basic material for the photovoltaic industry.

The US fabricated the so-called "forced labor" lie in Xinjiang, which is to rely on political manipulation to achieve the insidious purpose of suppressing the competitive advantages of Xinjiang's industries and transferring the photovoltaic industry out of China.

To talk about "forced labor," America should look at its own history and reality.

The United States has the original sin of the slave trade, and is now the hardest hit area for human trafficking and forced labor.

The United States has yet to ratify the 1930 Forced Labor Convention, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. Nearly 100,000 people in the United States are trafficked into forced labor from abroad every year. 500,000 people are enslaved; a large number of child laborers in the United States are engaged in agricultural work, and many children start working from the age of 8; 240,000 to 325,000 women and children in the United States are subjected to sexual slavery, and more than 100,000 people are detained in private prisons, long-term high-intensity , low-paid forced labor.

In April 2021, the UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur on the Negative Impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures on Human Rights and the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention issued a joint statement pointing out that the United States coerced personnel from other countries to engage in forced labor by threatening sanctions and other means, violating the legitimate rights and interests of relevant personnel. , a serious violation of the humanitarian spirit and international law.

Dark clouds can't block the sun, and the US can't smear Xinjiang's photovoltaic industry.

What the US has done will only suppress the normal trade in photovoltaic products, disrupt the normal supply chain, undermine the global efforts to tackle climate change, and ultimately backfire on itself and damage its own interests.

China will, as always, take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
