Heavy rains in the Turkish capital caused torrential rains and floods that submerged homes and cars in a number of areas.

Video clips on social media showed torrential rain in the streets of Ankara, swept away by a number of people on its way, before rescuers pulled them out and rescued them.

Ankara Governor Mansur Yavas had warned of thunderstorms, strong winds and hail locally in the northern and western provinces of the city.

Yavas called on citizens to be wary of the weather disturbances that Ankara is exposed to, and the authorities did not issue reports on whether there were casualties as a result of these floods.
