- I do not share the district court's conclusions about what documentation is required for the district court to be able to establish that animal cruelty has existed, but I do not expect any change in an appeal court hearing.

I therefore accept the outcome and do not intend to appeal the verdict, says chamber prosecutor Birgitta Fernlund in a press release.

Lack of evidence

At the beginning of May, the district court proceedings against the farmer began, and the preliminary investigation has been criticized for not being solid enough for a conviction.

Among other things, the court believes that there was a lack of evidence regarding the veterinary investigation of the animals on the farm.

According to Birgitta Fernlund, the conditions on the farm deserve to be criticized.

She also says that the films that have attracted media attention have shown what the situation on the farm looked like on occasion and not over a long period of time.

- When the district court does not accept information from an experienced veterinarian, it is also not reasonable to assume that it would have accepted material from private individuals as a basis for its position in the case, she says in a press release.
