The water leak occurred a week ago, on the night of June 2, and affected both residents and businesses in Nyköping and Oxelösund.

Had to cancel care

One of all activities that ran out of water was Nyköping's hospital and all planned care had to be canceled.

- Acute alarm patients who travel with blue lights continue to come to Nyköping.

Other patients who are not time-critical will be transported to other hospitals, Magnus Johansson, regional healthcare manager, told SVT on 2 June.

Other consequences of the lack of water were that the birth was forced to close and expectant parents were referred to Mälar Hospital in Eskilstuna.

Portable toilets, so-called bajamajor, were displayed outside the hospital and inpatients were allowed to perform their needs in a plastic bag.

To be investigated

The Regional Board now proposes to give the regional director the task of investigating the consequences of the leak for their operations.

In addition to investigating the consequences, the regional director will also make proposals on how to strengthen his capacity when it comes to water supply.

A decision on the assignment will be made at the regional board on Tuesday, and the director then has until September to investigate the whole thing.
