A former teacher from a college in Auch, in the Gers, was sentenced on Thursday for sexual assaults on four of his 5th graders.
Going beyond the requisitions of the prosecution, the criminal court imposed a two-year prison sentence, one of which was suspended, accompanied by an obligation to care and a ban on exercising a profession in contact with children during five years.
Defendants' denials
The case dates back to 2019, when several college girls reported inappropriate actions by this teacher, now 67 years old.
“I am extremely happy for these young victims who were heard, and recognized as victims even though the professor disputed the facts”, reacted Marie Gomes, one of the lawyers for the civil parties.
At the hearing of April 18, the defendant had indeed denied everything.
“My client has been excluded from society for three years, rejected and sadly publicized,” said Jacques Lévy, his defender.
