A 56-year-old man and his company based in Caen (Calvados) were sentenced on Thursday.

During a customs check at Le Bourget airport in 2015, significant undeclared war material belonging to the latter was seized, reports

The incriminated company specializes in the trade of military clothing and footwear.

Its manager, tried before a criminal court at the end of March, is a former naval commando.

Already sentenced in February 2021, he was then given an 18-month suspended prison sentence for selling weapons of war in Africa without authorization.

50,000 euro fine

Binoculars with night sight, pistols, a rifle or even chargers had been found during the control at Le Bourget airport.

The latter were leaving for a destination which was not specified.

Finally, the defendant was fined 50,000 euros.

His company was sentenced to a fine of 150,000 euros, including 100,000 euros suspended.
