An Iraqi couple agreed that the presenter of their dowry would be a bouquet of roses, and the late Hajj pilgrimage to the Holy House of God, in a remarkable event that ignited social media platforms for breaking all the rules of marriage dowries these days.

The groom, Muhammad Maan Al-Azzawi, told Sanad News Agency in Al-Jazeera network, that he agreed with his wife and her family that the dowry provider and the document in the court contract would be a bouquet of flowers and a thousand dinars, equivalent to (75 cents), while the late marriage was recorded as an argument to the House of God in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

Al-Azzawi explained that he and his wife decided to take this decision with the aim of urging young people to marry and breaking social norms that compelled the payment of high dowries, which led to the reluctance to marry as a result of widespread unemployment and hardship of life, adding that many young people want to marry, but the high dowries and financial costs of marriage prevent them from their happiness. .


The groom, through the Sanad Agency, called on the families to search for a decent life for their daughters by marrying them off to the one who deserves it, without imposing large sums of money as a dowry offered for marriage by those who ask for their hands.

On the communication platforms, many Iraqis expressed their admiration for Al-Azzawi's step and its symbolic significance in facilitating the requirements of marriage by reconsidering customs and traditions, and abandoning wrong habits.
