The trial of two former prisoners of the prison of Perpignan opened this Wednesday before the Assize Court of Pyrénées-Orientales.

The alleged victim is a man who shared the same cell as the defendants after being convicted of sexual assault on his wife.

On the day of the events, September 13, 2019, he was allegedly beaten up before being forced into a sexual act by one of them.

The latter, detained at the time for "rape and violence with a weapon" on another young man, allegedly bit him in the genitals.

The fellow prisoner accused of complicity had meanwhile joined this same cell after being intercepted for non-execution of sentence.

He was particularly known for acts of violence.
