One person was killed and about 30 others were injured after a vehicle collided with a crowd of people in the center of the capital, Berlin, on Wednesday, a spokesman for the rescue forces announced.
The police announced, based on preliminary data, that the accident occurred at about 10:30 am (local time) near the Memorial Church and the famous shopping street "Kodam".
A police spokesman said the vehicle was a private vehicle.
"We don't know at this moment if this was an intentional act or if it was a traffic accident," said police press office spokesman Tilo Calpets.
The police arrested the suspected driver at the scene of the accident.
A photo was circulated on the Internet showing a car breaking into the window of a store.
It is reported that in December 2016, an extremist stormed the Christmas market near the Church of the Remembrance with a truck, killing 12 people and wounding more than 70 others.
