One year and two months: the fourteenth month of detention of Olivier Dubois ends this Wednesday.

The French journalist was kidnapped on April 8, 2021 in Gao, in northern Mali, while he was reporting.

Since then, our colleague, who works in particular for Liberation, Jeune Afrique and Le Point, has appeared in two videos, in which he confirms that he is hostage to Jnim, the Support Group for Islam and Muslims, linked to Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

The Malian and French authorities ensure that they are doing everything possible for his

.

In the meantime, like every 8 of the month, RFI gives the floor to his relatives.

Despite the suspension of RFI in

, our newspapers and our programs remain receivable, in particular on short waves.

Where he is, probably in a corner of the desert in northern Mali, everything suggests that he will therefore be able to continue to hear the words spoken by his family.

I know that the messages you receive make you feel good.

And it is also in these difficult situations that we realize that the messages are important.

So I will continue to send you messages or breaths of air and comfort for you my son.

Not a day goes by without thinking of you, of your difficult life to live on a daily basis, which I dare not imagine.

We live to the rhythm of your situation with the hope of finding you very soon.

We keep moving forward.

Stay strong, we are with you.

I love you my son.

Once again, once too many, it is from a distance that I wish you patience and hope.

The whole family is doing well and has only one concern: your quick return to us.

For this new five-year term, the greatest hopes are cherished.

That of not having to wait another year for the minister concerned.

And above all to know that you are finally liberated.

We do what we can with the means at hand and it's not an easy task, but casually we persevere.
