  The monitoring results show that in 2021, the health literacy level of urban residents nationwide will be 30.70%, and that of rural residents will be 22.02%, an increase of 2.62 and 2.00 percentage points respectively compared with 2020.

The health literacy levels of residents in the eastern, central and western regions were 30.40%, 23.83% and 19.42%, respectively, an increase of 1.34, 2.82 and 2.70 percentage points over 2020.

The basic knowledge and concept literacy level of urban and rural residents was 37.66%, the healthy lifestyle and behavior literacy level was 28.05%, and the basic skills literacy level was 24.28%, which were 0.51, 1.61, and 1.16 percentage points higher than 2020 respectively.

The literacy levels of the six types of health problems from high to low are: safety and first aid literacy 56.41%, scientific health concept literacy 50.01%, health information literacy 35.93%, infectious disease prevention literacy 27.60%, chronic disease prevention literacy 26.67% and basic medical literacy 26.05 %; Among them, basic medical literacy, safety and first aid literacy, and infectious disease prevention and control literacy have all improved, and scientific health concept literacy, health information literacy, and chronic disease prevention literacy are basically the same as in 2020.

  The content of this monitoring is based on "Chinese Citizens' Health Literacy-Basic Knowledge and Skills", covering 336 counties (districts) in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), 1008 townships (streets), and the subjects are 15-69 years old For the resident population, a total of 66,676 valid questionnaires were obtained.
