  According to the official website of the General Administration of Emergency Situations of the Irkutsk Region, at 20:25 local time (15:25 Moscow time), an earthquake occurred in the waters of Lake Baikal, 17 kilometers away from the village of Veliko Goloustnoye.

The epicenter intensity was 8 degrees.

  Experts from the Crisis Management Center of the State's General Department of Emergency Situations maintain communication with the unified on-duty dispatching agencies in various districts in the state. At present, no reports of casualties or property damage have been received, and relevant personnel are investigating the residential areas.

  The Unified Geophysics Bureau of the Russian Academy of Sciences released information on the same day that an earthquake occurred in the Lake Baikal region, the epicenter was at 52.12 north latitude, 105.77 east longitude, and the body wave magnitude (Mb) was 5.4.

  The TASS news agency quoted information from the Irkutsk state government as saying that the earthquake did not affect the normal operation of local public facilities.

  RIA Novosti reported that in addition to Irkutsk, the quake was felt in surrounding areas such as the Republic of Buryatia and Transbaikal Krai.
