China News Service, Beijing, June 8 (Reporter Li Jingze) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on June 8.

A reporter asked: We have noticed that with regard to the encounter between the Chinese and Canadian military planes, the Canadian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs have spoken out on many occasions recently, saying that the Chinese military planes harassed the Canadian military planes to carry out the mission of the United Nations, and that China's provocative actions are irresponsible and endanger the safety of Canadian personnel. Spokesperson Any further comments on this?

Zhao Lijian: The Canadian side's remarks are completely confounding right and wrong.

China has repeatedly stated its solemn position on this issue.

What I want to stress is that the UN Security Council has never authorized any country to deploy military forces in the air and sea areas under the jurisdiction of other countries for surveillance activities that violate the resolution.

The Canadian side claims that the Canadian military aircraft's mission to the United Nations is purely an excuse, and China firmly opposes any actions that endanger China's national security and sovereignty in the name of implementing UN resolutions.

A basic fact is that Canadian military planes flew thousands of miles into the airspace near China, approaching China for reconnaissance and provocation, rather than Chinese military planes flying into the airspace near Canada.

It is clear at a glance who is threatening and provoking and who is defending.

The measures taken by the Chinese military are reasonable, powerful, safe, professional and impeccable.

We once again urge the Canadian side to respect objective facts, stop spreading false information, stop engaging in "microphone diplomacy", and do more things that are conducive to the normal development of China-Canada relations.
