.

Between November 2018 and June 2019, he had participated with two other men in the theft of several bank cards in different cities in Normandy, such as Agneaux, Granville or Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche), in Mondeville (Calvados) or even in Picardy , in Amiens (Somme).

Each time, the same procedure was used.

Inside fast food restaurants belonging to the same chain, they spotted the code of a customer's bank card when he paid at the terminal.

An accomplice then moved to the table to find himself seated behind the victim, then glued him so that he could rummage in his pockets and retrieve his card.

14,000 euros in damage

In total, the damage related to these thefts was estimated at 14,000 euros.

Twelve complaints were filed, which led to the opening of an investigation.

If the analysis of the images of surveillance cameras made it possible to better understand the modus operandi of the band, only one of the respondents could be clearly identified, thanks to the demarcation of his telephone.

This 38-year-old Rouennais was then arrested in October 2021 in Darnétal (Seine-Maritime).

Already convicted three times for similar acts, the man was tried as a repeat offender.

At the hearing, the man assured that he had only been an “accompanist”.

Sentenced, he will also have to pay 1,450 euros in damages to the victims.
